Students should be at 50% of their reading goal by September 19, 2014. Reading is
part of their nightly homework.
Tips: students should read one book at a time (in their reading level) , test on it, and then
begin another book. Most children should read and test on one book per week to meet
their reading goal by the trimester's end. To check on your child's progress, log on to the
school's website. http://fairoaks.ojusd.org/ and click the Accelerated Reader link to the right, https://hosted6.renlearn.com/371360/HomeConnect/Login.aspx . There you can see how
they are progressing.
For students needing phonics practice, there is also a link to download a phonics power
Jog-a-thon permission slips went home September 12 and runner's will take to their marks
on October 10th. Please consider volunteering that day. Our class will need adult help counting
Our class is in need of a room parent to help coordinate event volunteers. If you are able to
make phone calls, it may be the task for you!
Responsibility is the character (dare I say life?) trait for the month of September.
Specific ways to show respect are:
-doing the right thing at the right time in the right way.
-always doing one's best
-being accountable for one's choices
-thinking before acting or speaking and considering the consequences.
